Vintage Crate & Barrel Stoneware Reactive Glaze Plates & Bowls Made in Poland
This beautiful set of plate and bowls puts the focus on the beautiful blue reactive glaze. Undergoing chemical changes during firing, the glaze produces one-of-a-kind patterns and luminous, variable blue tones. As it cascades down the plate, the glaze transitions from aqua to cobalt, peppered throughout with unique markings and crackles. This intentional and desirable crazing occurs during firing, and the craquelure can develop more complexity over the years whenever the raw natural materials expand and contract. The glaze and its effects are food-safe.
