The collection includes fascinating observations, including 'if spaniels sleep more than usual, it foretells wet weather', but 'if rats are more restless than usual, rain is at hand'. Chapters include: Proverbs Relating to Birds, Flowers and Movable Feasts; Times and Seasons; Sun, Moon and Stars; Wind; Clouds; Mists; Dew; Fog; Sound; Sea; Tides; Rain; Rainbows; Snow; Thunder and Lightning; and much more. Firm binding; rubbed corners and edges; some wear to boards, including areas of discoloration and fading to spine; slight lean to book; foxing and toning to endpapers and first few pages; interior is clean and free of markings, save owner name to ffep and embossed stamp to half-title page.
