Title: [Vexillology] [Advertising] Flag Themed Wraparound Promotional Dust Jacket from Lacombe, Alberta
Publication: Lacombe, AB: Kerr Hardware & Canadian Laco Lamps

Description: Dust Jacket. We date this unusual, ephemeral survivor to c. 1930, based on the 3-digit phone number given for "Kerr's Hardware" in Lacombe, and an announcement printed in the Oyen News (a central Alberta newspaper) on May 16th, 1928, stating that Kerr & May Hardware shall henceforth be known as Kerr Hardware. A flag themed, promotional dust jacket, unfolded measuring 11 x 17.25 inches wide, and printed for Canadian Laco Lamps, Limited and Kerr's Hardware in Lacombe, Alberta. The jacket explains "Why We Fly the Flag" on the front and rear flaps, with the front and back panels describing who should fly each flag and how to fly each flag, along with the various flags shown. Jacket w. some toning, fold line wear and tears at spine ends, p.o. name in pencil in ownership box near foot of front panel. Very Good.

This colorful jacket provides an interesting look at mid-20th century business promotion through it's dovetailing of nationalism and polychrome offset lithography.
