This is a rare February 12th, 1928 program (playbill) from the Post-Broadway engagement of the New Sixth Edition of the musical revue "EARL CARROLL VANITIES" at the Illinois Theatre in Chicago, Illinois. (The Sixth Edition opened August 24th, 1926 at New York's Earl Carroll Theatre and ran for 303 performances before going on the road.) ..... The show starred CHARLES MACK and GEORGE MORAN (known as the "TWO BLACK CROWS") who have the dubious distinction of being the last major blackface team to work in vaudeville. The cast also included LOUISE BROOKS, DOROTHY KNAPP ("Miss Universe"), JOHNNY DOOLEY, JULIUS TANNEN, NORMAN FRESCOTT, BEBE STANTON, ANN WHYTE, ANNETTE LANG, PEGGY HARVEY, WILMA WINTERS, NOVELLA FROMM, KATHRYN BLACK, CAROLYN GERKIN, PEGGY RAYMOND, VIRGINIA CASE, NANCY FORBES, CLAIRE WHYTE, DOROTHY CROWLEY, HELEN HOWE, BRIAN McDONALD, CLIFF CRANE, JEANNE FAYAL, FRANCES MARCHANT, MAXINE STONE, CHARLES STONE, ISABELLE MOHR, JERRY ISAACS, MOZELL RANSON, POLLY CASTLETON, MARION MARTIN, DOROTHY BRIGHT, BOBBY GARMAN, EVELYN CALMAN, IRMA PHILBIN and the TWENTY FOSTER GIRLS ..... DETAILS: The 36 page playbill measures 5 1/4" X 7 3/4" inches and includes full production credits, cast list, scenes, list of musical numbers and wonderful vintage advertising, but no cast photos or bios ..... CONDITION: With the exception of a tape reinforcement to the outside seam (doesn't appear to have actually needed to be repaired), this rare playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
