MACK Trucks Bulldog Dog Handle "Hood Ornament" PATENT #87931 -larger-

  • One Truck/Car Hood Ornament Figurine (aka Figure, Statuette, Statue, Model)
  • This item is true Objet-d'art, original function and artistic.
  • This dog is larger than the other Mack Bulldog I may have available in another listing.
  • Cast Metal
  • Silver Color
  • CONDITION: Very Old, Aging, and Oxidation. Still pugnacious, tenacious, and durable. It has seen many miles and many decades. The dog has etched user/collector's name and initials on it in several locations.
  • Weighs approximately 1 pound 8.8 ounces. This is not the shipping weight and not the dimensional shipping weight.
  • Measures approximately 5½ inches from tip on the nose to the back of foot across the dog by 1 9/16 inches across the bottom of the front paws (wide).
  • If drawing a horizontal imaginary line from the top of the ears and another horizontal line then from the bottom of the hind feet, not including the screws, the distance between those to lines would be about 4 inches. Another way of saying that, if it was mounted to a flat surface, then from the flat surface to the very highest point would be the top of the ears.
  • Bulldog is wearing a studded collar with a buckle on one side.
  • Text on Collar: MACK
  • Text on Chest: DESIGN PATENT 87831
  • Unique Pictures of the actual item available in this listing.
  • The primary function of this item was either a handle for the hood or as a handle for the radiator cap, then a iconic hood ornament. It also served and still serves as an advertising mascot.
  • MACK® Trucks Inc. was founded in 1900 under the name of Mack Brothers Company in the USA.
  • They started using the bulldog in the early 1920's after their reputation in World War I.
