I’m offering today an adorable and large size "AE" baby doll from late 1950's era.  She is a large size doll standing approximately 24" tall.  She has a heavy vinyl body, which is jointed at the neck, arms and legs.  She has sweet molded brown hair with waves running through it.  There is some paint loss, but actually I think it accents the waves in her hair.  She has been washed and sanitized prior to dressing her.

I will start at the top of her head and work my way down so as not to omit anything in my description.  Starting at the top of her head, she has brown molded hair which is accented with a custom made hair band, which matches her adorable bright pink and white check drop waist dress.  I took white with pink polka dots satin ribbon and made a large bow.  I then cut bright pink elastic ribbon to fit the dolls head perfectly and then hand sewed the large bow to the top of the elastic.  By doing this, it allows the bow to stand nice and upright on the dolls head.  By hand making these doll hair bands, you don't have to worry about them falling off and getting lost.  It takes lots of time to create these hair bows for each doll, but I really want their new mommy's to be proud of their new dolly.

As you go down to her face, she has single brown line for eyebrows.  She has lovely green eyes, which open and close nicely.  She has her original eyelashes which have been spared the wrath of her previous little mommies.  Her eyes are quite large and look straight at you with such a sweet stare.  She has a dainty petite nose with open nostrils for realism which flows down to her precious open mouth.  Her lips are painted a bright red color with single hole for bottle feeding.  I do not give these older dolls water for fear of harming them, so I'll leave that up to her new mommy.  Her chubby baby cheeks have beautiful coloring, which really enhances those big green eyes she has.  The back of her neck is simply hallmarked:  "AE".  I do believe she was manufactured in the late 1950's to early 1960's era.

As most of you who follow me know, I pick their outfits based upon the way their faces look and what they speak to my heart.  With this precious face and large green eyes, she truly needed to be in something special.  This precious hand made dress is made out of soft rayon knit in large pink and white check pattern.  Going around the collar is pink with white polka dot gathered lace.  As you go around to the back side of her dress, there is pink and white grosgrain ribbon, which goes through lace ties and ties off in a bow at the bottom.  Going back around to the front side of the dress, she has lovely Cinderella style sleeves which are made of white cotton fabric with delicate hand sewn sequins.  Each sleeve has the same matching pink ruffles around the hemline of the sleeves.  The sleeves come down just a bit above the elbow area.  The bodice on the dress is drop waist, which flows down to a very full short skirt.  The skirt is trimmed off with white and pink gathered tulle netting.  Under the skirt are layers of white and pink tulle netting which allows the dress to stand out very full.  I added pink cotton pants which go down just past her knees and peek out from under all those many layers of ruffles.  She is wearing white socks with sheer gathered white lace, which look so sweet with her pink Mary Jane shoes.  These shoes come from my personal vintage doll shoe collection, but have never been worn by another doll.  She is absolutely gorgeous and such a large baby doll for those of you who love these big dolls.

My dolls are not played with by children who come and visit; I know that sounds mean, but sometimes they play too rough.  My dolls are kept in a doll room specifically for them and are displayed for everyone to enjoy.  All my dolls are truly loved and cared for as though they were my children.  Their clothes are either original to the doll, made by me, or I've tried finding doll clothing from the same era as the doll or find clothing which match the personality of the doll.  We do not smoke and I try very hard to keep a tidy clean home free of dust and odor.  My dolls are clean and most of the time look as though they did when they were sold new.  Depending on how old they are, I do try to be honest in detailing if some of the dolls have bruises, missing toes or fingers or other issues, but that doesn't mean they aren't worth having; for each one is like children.....they are all beautiful in their mothers eyes.  If I've missed something it would never be intentional.

SIZE:

This vintage AE Baby doll is a larger doll measuring approximately 24" tall.

CONDITION:

This doll is Vintage, but in what I would consider good condition.  Her body has been cleaned and sanitized.  Her molded hair does have some paint loss, which I think gives her character.  Her eyes open/close freely with her original eyelashes.  She is jointed and poses quite nicely.  She has all her fingers and toes.  Her dress is custom made just for this doll. Her doll shoes are vintage, but have never been worn by another doll.  They come from my personal doll shoe collection.

The photos really tell the story about this doll.  She is a beautiful doll and one of a kind.  Please view complete set of photos for thorough description.  I hope you can take a few minutes to look at my other dolls.  God bless you.  Connie
