This stunning squash blossom and earring set was made by Navajo artist Mary Ann Spencer. Mary Ann became silversmith at 13 years of age. Growing up in Gallop NM she was surrounded by artist her entire life and grew to have a passion for the art which you can clearly see in her work. Mary Ann not only learned from those around her but took classes honing her trade and become a "Master Craftsman". Her work is to perfection and highly sought after by collectors and southwest jewelry enthusiast alike.
The stones in this piece are Golden Hills turquoise, one of the most sought after stones on the market because if it lavender blue color which is extremely rare in turquoise. Back in the mid 1990's this vein of turquoise was discovered in Kazakhstan about 200 miles south of the Russian boarder. and some where skeptical of its color. However a hand full of investor bought it up and set on it until 2015 Tucson Gem Show.
When the investors premiered it at the Tucson show some claimed it was dyed, while others refused to believe it was turquoise at all. Lab testing has since confirmed it's the real deal, and the market reaction has been overwhelmingly positive. Between the craftsmanship and outstanding stones, this set will be a wonderful addition to any Native American collection.
