This listing is for an early example of Britains' cast metal farmyard Dovecote, which was part of the Farm Series, first introduced in 1940. The dovecote was cast in two parts – the base and post together with the upper platform, and the hollow bird house itself, with the two elements riveted together using two short prongs from the base of the dovecote. This example is marked to the base: “Made by Britains Limited” and “Made in London England”.

Condition

This model is in fairly good order. The paint to the dovecote is essentially complete, with some rubbing to extremities and across the 'thatch'. The dark brown paint to the support post is largely gone, and there is also loss to the green from the base. The central post is notorious for being bent, but this one isn't bad.
