Angled radiator valves are most often used where the radiator has inlets on the side and the water pipes drop vertically into the floor. The can be fitted where the pipes come out from the wall although we would recommend the Marella corner thermostatic radiator valve, as that would look far better in that installation and avoid the chance of anyone catching their ankle on a protruding head of a TRV.
Straight radiator valves are most often used where the inlet pipes run along the wall parallel with the skirting board and into the side of a radiator. Another common use is where a towel rail or designer radiator has downward facing tappings and the pipes come up vertically from the floor.
Corner radiator valves are most often used where the radiator has inlets on the side and the water pipes come directly from the wall, horizontally. The can also be fitted where the inlets are on the bottom of a radiator or towel rail and the pipe work comes from the wall.
Each pair of valves is made up of one thermostatic radiator valve and one lock-shield. The lock-shield valve is used to balance your heating system and the thermostatic head is used to regulate the room temperature. Numbered 1 to 5 you have easy control over the room temperature, ranging from 7°C to 28°C. Additionally there is a frost protection feature, so when the control head is turned fully clockwise (off), this allows the valve to open if the temperature falls below 7°C, preventing pipes from freezing in cold weather. We also provide a decorator's cap and full installation instructions for further convenience. These valves are designed and manufactured to a high standard both mechanically and aesthetically. The valve bodies are cast from brass, with a smooth polished finish, heavier than similar designs to give a cleaner line that matches the diameter of the truncated compression nut. The head of the TRV is a sensitive liquid sensor and the cover caps on the lock-shield are brass, as opposed to plastic, so they will never break and stay looking as good as new for years and years. Whilst we always recommend all TRV's are installed on the flow, rather than the return pipework of a radiator, this thermostatic valve is designed to be bidirectional and can be installed on either the flow or return, in any orientation. All systems are now supposed to be fitted with an automatic bypass valve to comply with statutory regulation, which will deal with excessive fluid velocity and avoid radiator hammer, once set correctly. An automatic bypass valve MUST be fitted as part of any TRV installation to allow them to become bidirectional.
