This auction is for one External Reference add on board for the 33120A Function Generator. The 33120A in the pictures is not included. Board color may be green or purple. This board is similar to option 001 and provides lock to an external 10MHz reference, a 10MHz VCXO for when the reference is disconnected, and a 10MHz sine wave reference output for connection to another 33120A. This board should allow syncing of two 33120A function generators, but that function has not been tested as I only have one 33120A. The reference output is locked to the reference input as well as the 40MHz clock to the main board so it should work. Note that phase adjustment must be made after every power cycle just like with the OEM option board.

The necessary 10 pin IDC cable and an SMB to SMB cable is included.

The CAL routine should be used to set up the function generator with the external reference. You will need an accurate 10MHz clock source for both the 33120A and your frequency counter to do the cal. The Agilent 33120A option 001 installation manual explains the calibration using step 86. Once that is done, disconnect the external reference and adjust the pot on the board to trim the function generator output to 10MHz when using the VCXO. I have had the best results trimming to about 10.000001MHz and the VCXO will go down in frequency as the board warms up. The OEM board spec was +/-2ppm (20Hz @10MHz) so the trim should be good enough.

Some CAL Labs may not know what to do with a unit that has this board installed due to the pot adjustment.
