Notes:
  • This item was purchased at auction as part of a lot that included several items from the estate of PAUL WATKINS (of JR Watkins, Winona, MN - the largest direct sales marketing company in the world in 1915).  See Picture #9 for a stamp on a DIFFERENT PIECE from the lot.  I can NOT confirm this print is from the Watkins estate.
  • Fred L Hunter (Frederick L Hunter) was a known engraver/etcher at the time who produced at least one other Ronner etching in 1884, a copy of which is held at The British Museum (London).
  • B Brooks & Son was a British publisher/printer between (at least) 1859 (Doncaster) - 1884 (Strand St, London)
  • Between (at least) the years of 1894-1896, Protheroe & Morris conducted several auctions of B Brooks & Son limited edition Artist Proofs and Engravings (See pic #10 for an example of one of the ads advertising these auctions, from the 12/11/1896 edition of "The Gardeners' Chronicle - A Weekly Illustrated Journal of Horticulture and Allied Subjects").  Another ad from 1894 in the same periodical was also found.  I can NOT confirm this item was offered in any of these auctions.
  • I BELIEVE a different ad indicated 350 prints + 25 artist proofs of the Brooks & Son Ltd Edition engravings were offered, but I am unable to find that reference.
  • Dimensions in listing are approximate.
  • Please see photos 2, 3, and 11 for DAMAGE to the edges of the paper.
