Strumpets by Elizabeth Melinek:  these knee high gaiters or spatterdashes are made of the brown lizard leather, cut so that the finest patterning comes down the outside of the legs, unlined with the suede inside which feels lovely. They are in one complete piece of leather with a seam running up the back of the leg, heel to back of the knee, where there is a brass zip with a brown leather tongue inside so that you do not zip up your calf or tights.  These were designed by Elizabeth Melinek to be worn by women over shoes with a heel and often with shoes of a contrasting colour so they are cut on the diagonal at the bottom to cover the front of the shoe but allow for the rise of the foot in the shoe because of the heel.   There is a hook and loop fastening which fastens under the arch of the high or medium hight heeled shoes.  The top flap which covers the front of the foot and shoe is fastened with three brass studs which are pushed through holes in the lizard leather, the stud opening becomes easier the more you push them into the holes and ease them out.

The top of these gaiters have a wide band of brown leather inside so that they do not rub when you walk.  At the middle of the inside calf, at the top, there is a band of black elastic set between the inner and outer layer of leather, there are two 7 cm vertical cuts so that there is some give in the top as you walk and the calf muscles expand and contract.

These are very beautiful, shall keep you warm and dry and they are practical too.  Use specialist cleaning - as for kid leather gloves.
New and unused.  Made in England.  The RRP was £133.50.  Size:  Large or "Voluptuous".

I have measured these flat on a table and at the ankle they measure 24.5 cms, so you can measure your own ankle.
At the fattest part of the calf 34 cms - so you can measure your calf when the heel is lifted.
