Strumpets by Elizabeth Melinek:  these MICRO STUDS are spats for men to wear of the instep and around the ankle, in a black leather, cut to cover the front of the foot, the instep and the ankle.  The leather feels lovely and soft, unlined and cut arund the top and bottom with no stitching, except down the panels where the studs are and the front and back flat seams.

The outside has three different panels of black leather with a flat seam running up the back and another up the front.  There is a wide double panel of the black leather down the outside with black shiny studs and on the inside of this wide panel are the steel cups which fit into the poppers on the back side panel, these poppers are also let into a double layer of the black leather.   There are seven studs and poppers in all.  The edges of these side panels on the spats have a line of black stitching around them, keeping the inner and outer layers of leather together.  There are black bands of fabric with hooks and loops to fasten these under the arch of the shoes.

These were designed by Elizabeth Melinek to be worn by men over shoes with a normal block heel and often with shoes of a contrasting colour.    The instructions are to push down towards the ankle while fastening, then pull up like a sock.  Made from high quality leather.   Use specialist cleaning.  New and unused.  Made in England.  The RRP was £103.50.  Size:  Small.  The man who modelled these spats wore size 9 shoes so these are listed as small but they fit someone with size 9 feet.
