As most who respect Marine Archaeology, Peter Throckmorton was my hero. I read everything he wrote.  In the 1980's I was part of a group called the Marine Archaeological Council. We had a research permit for a Fort Lauderdale historic shipwreck, but could not excavate without an underwater archaeologist, so I called Peter Throckmorton. That group raised funds to hire him, he was our archaeologist 1984-85. He and I shared an incredible rapport from the moment I met him at the airport. Those years MAC also sponsored the Greater Fort Lauderdale Shipwreck Symposium which was attended by leading Archaeologists and Treasure hunters. 1984 was a debate between them, 1985 was a forum on how they could work together. Peter was one of the first archaeologists to work with treasure hunters, realizing they had funds Universities did not, but needed Archaeological expertise. Peter liked Florida, stayed here winters, returned to Maine summers. He taught Marine Archaeology at Nova University, I took his course. My hero became my friend and mentor. When he passed away about 1990, MAC dedicated an 1800 British anchor on the Riverwalk to him. I shipped his apartment possessions to his family in Maine, but they chose not to claim his library and files at the University. His books went into the Nova Library, Nova gave me his file cabinet. I have stored it over 30 years, it is time to share it with the world. I am  offering Copies; files shown are my originals. which I keep.     First folder on Sydney Inlet wreck, British Columbia is an Archaeological report  by Jacques Marc when it was a Mystery Wreck. Second is by BC Archaeological Society after it was identified as the Lord Western, an 1840 wreck built in Scotland 1840, as an East Indiaman.

White Squall wrecked in Massachusetts is an iron Barque built in Bristol England by William Patterson, 1864 and is similat to the Barque ELISSA, brought back from the Falklands. She had sailed from Singapore to Bioston with a cargo containing Block Tin. Contains  a first draft report by Ocean Marine Diving, Inc. also a later report

Lying in Cardigan Bay Wales is the Bronze Bell wreck; so named because her bell had the date 1677, but no name. This is an Archaeological Survey by John Illsley of Wales.

The Earl of Abergavenny is a larger 1200 ton East Indiaman built 1797 on the Thames, wrecked 1805, Weymouth Bay England. First is draft of an article by Ed Cumming, project director. Second is by Philip L Armitage og Florida; a study of skeletal material from this wreck, both animal and human.

Final folder was a survey of  blackwater areas of the Solent by the mary Rose Special Branch researchers of where fishermen had snagged their nets. One area yielded a third century amphora,  a neolithic stone, , pottery shards of 15th-18th centuries.

Last folder is an unknown wreck in Florida, chosen because it is a composite wreck with iron knees. It was not English because outer planking was cypress, treenails were locust, ceiling and frames yellow pine. It is included as it is a distinct type in evolution of shipbuilding, as are the others.

This is a fascinating collection.
