What martial arts styles use weapons? There
are
numerous forms of martial arts that utilize weapons as part of their
combat systems, from blades to clubs and more. No other martial arts
style would emphasize the training of weapons like the Filipino/
Philippines style of martial arts.
- Kali, Modern Arnis,
and Escrima: The most dominant style in the world that initially teaches
the knife, the sword, the stick, sword and dagger, double sword, double
dagger use and defense, kick boxing, and grappling with and without a
weapon. While some martial arts styles teach you unarmed hand and foot
movements first, all the way up to black belt, Kali, Modern Arnis, and
Escrima teaches weapons use and defense FIRST.
What kind of weapons are used by martial artists? The
weapon a martial artist chooses depends on what they have trained to
use. Some disciplines offer multiple weapons to learn with during their
training. A few of these tools are the following:
- Sword:
Swords are bladed weapons held with either one or two hands. Swords
can vary in length depending on style and can be seen from 18" to 42"
long. Some styles of sword include the Bolo, Katana, Kris, Golok,
Falchion, Wakizashi, Krabi Krabong, Butterfly, Kukri, Saber, and much much
MORE.
- Knife: Knives or Daggers can be various length
ranging from 1/2" to 16", some may say that 16" inches would be about
short sword length. The knife is considered the most dangerous weapon on
the planet, because of various reasons such as concealment.
