The Doctrine and Covenants is a part of the scriptural canon the
Latter Day Saint movement. This 1880 edition contains two parts. First
are the "Lectures on Faith," which set forth basic church doctrine.
Second are the "Covenants and Commandments," a compilation of
revelations, or "covenants" of the church. The Lectures on Faith were
removed from later editions of the book, as they are not considered
canonical by most Latter Day Saints.
