1870 Omnibus by George Cruikshank
Comic English Essays & Art Engravings BINDING
George Cruikshank was one of England’s best and most notable 19th-century
caricaturists and book illustrators. In 1841, Cruikshank sought an outlet for
his art that he had complete control over – no publisher or editor control. The
result was the ‘Omnibus’ in 1842.
This ‘Omnibus’ contained numerous
comedic articles, essays, and even short stories with dozens of woodcuts and
steel engravings of the famed Cruikshank art.
This 1870 edition was edited by Laman Blanchard with one hundred
engravings on steel and wood.
