New, Soma “New Albion microbrew,” just found in Japan, this year. It’s from 2020 and was hanging on a wall in a shop. Originally, it was red, but I had it professionally sandblasted and custom powder coated to a gunmetal blue/gray color. Which looks so much better! It’s Tange champion 1 steel tubing. Light, stiff during acceleration, but compliant and comfortable over rough roads. Tires are 451 iso, or larger 20” diameter. Everything has been thoughtfully considered and customized. Shimano Ultegra r8000, shifters and rear derailleur. 1x11 speed with 44T front chainring by wolf tooth and 11/34 rear ultegra cassette. Chain is KMC-Ti. Front brake is a Paul component mini-moto and rear brake is a Paul component touring cantilever, both with large kool-stop salmon pads. Cranks are ultegra r8000 in 170 length with wolf tooth aluminum bolts. Handlebars are Deda 215, NOS, rode by 7x Tour de France champion, what’s his name. Bar tape is fizik semi leather. Seatpost is American classic, 27.2, vintage NOS. Seat collar is wolf tooth. Stem is cinelli 1A, 90mm, NOS. Headset is velo orange gran cru. Pedals are velo orange touring, grippy and super lite @236 grams. Front hub is white industries. Bottle cage bolts are super lite wolf tooth. Rims are velocity with sapim spokes and silver brass nipples. Tires are Schwalbe durano’s at 451 x 28mm. Saddle is NOT included. Mini velo’s are popular in Japan due to smaller housing, commuting on train (it takes up less space, slightly shorter wheel base), and its nimble handling with smaller wheels is great in crowded cities. Don’t be fooled…this is a serious road bike with positioning that is similar to your current road bike. Century rides are no problem. It’s light and fast! Without pedals 19.5 lbs. I built it for Seattle and the surrounding hills but am now moving to the countryside in Massachusetts, that’s why it’s up for sale.
