This is a really lovely medium size Decorative plate with a Fish surrounded by Flowers. This piece is all handmade, hand painted and Burnished in the pottery tradition called  bruñido by Antonio de Jesús Díaz Medrano.  Antonio is a young artist from Tonalá in Jalisco Mexico, he comes from a long line of ceramic artists.  I have several other plates like this one (see photo #5), or go to my Ebay Store for a larger selection of Mexican Folk Art...

It measures approx.  7 inches tall by 8 inches wide and 1 inch deep.

"He comes from a family of artisans, where he grew up with a taste for preserving family traditions, and like every Tonalteca child the trade, he learned from his parents; María Refugio Medrano Lumus and Roberto Díaz Jarero. Today Antonio represents the 5th generation of artisans, which he represents with great pride…..

His family has been dedicated to the craft for generations. "I was born and grew up in mud," says Antonio, who at 25 years of age has earned recognition for the artistic quality of his pieces."

There is a clay loop built into the back of the plate so you can run a string through it and hang on the wall.

This Plate is a wonderful example of Mexican Folk art and Ceramic traditions from this area of Mexico.  This is a newly made piece and is in perfect condition and is on the bottom.

This would make a great addition to your Mexican Folk Art collection or a wonderful gift for a Lover of beautiful objects!!!
