The Spider (v. 22, #1, Oct. 1940) No Front Cover, The Council of Evil - It's not The Shadow or The Phantom Detective, it's The Spider, front and center in this 80+ year old pulp.  (Grant Stockbridge is listed as the writer.)

This issue is in poor condition because it is missing the front cover.  It contains the back cover and all internal pages, which are cream-colored with slightly tanning edges.  The front cover has some white paper residue at the bottom left-hand corner and some chipping, the top staple has some rust migration and the bottom staple has some staining, 49 is written in pen at the top right-hand corner and there is an approx. 1/8" dog-eared corner; the  back cover has a lengthy crease at the left-hand side, there is staining at the girl/stove area, the bottom right-side edge has an approx. 1/2" tear, there is an approx. 3/8" piece missing at the bottom right-hand edge.
