This listing is for the Teac X-10R. The description below is for this switch assembly used in the X-1000R. The switch assembly is the same. Installation instructions will be provided.

Here testimonials from recent customers:

"Got the switch assembly, installed yesterday and sounding great. Whisper quiet and just a precision “click” sound and the sound is just clear and clean like the switch on the X-2000R. Does this switch have the same “ contacts are silver alloy with gold alloy overlay on them like the X-2000R does?[answer "YES"]

"Quick shipping, as described. Installation went smooth and other than having to tweak a few pins on them, they went right in. Instruction are very clear and easy to follow. I was able to accomplish the upgrade in less than an hour, with the help of a de- soldering station. Works great!"

"Thanks again for making this switch it was worth every penny. I’ll be on the lookout for theAkai747 switch"

Up for sale - newly designed replacement for ALPS Teac X-1000R tape direction FWD/REV switchesS307, S308 & S309 used in the TEAC X-1000R reel to reel tape deck. This also replaces the solenoid used to activate the switches. The picture in my listing shows the components that my device replaces with my device above. The solenoid, bracket and mechanical switches are, of course, not included – they are shown for reference only. These are the switches that are used to select which play back heads are selected during FWD or REV tape direction as well as various control signals.

The original ALPS solenoid driven switch assemblies are getting old and once they fail, your X-1000R is out of commission. And, of course, they are impossible to find! If you have the original TEAC switches in your deck, their contacts have degraded over time and the contacts cannot be adequately cleaned. Even then, the contacts are worn and the whole thing should be replaced. That's where my X-1000RK assembly comes in! The signals from the playback heads pass through this switch. Typical symptoms of failure of this switch are that some tracks are played backwards, channel drop-out in one direction or the other, head audio signal attenuation or poor audio signal quality, but other symptoms are also possible.

I designed this device to be a 'drop in' replacement for the original S307, S308 & S309 switches. I used modern, high reliability, hermetically sealed components.  The original switched are not hermetically sealed. Replacement requires only basic mechanical, soldering and de-soldering skills. Step-by-step instructions, solder and solder wick are provided - everything you need except basic hand tools and a soldering iron.

If you are restoring an X-1000R, this is a great opportunity to replace the old SW307, SW308 &SW309 with this new modern assembly! It's only a matter of time before the original parts fail... I believe that any X-1000R's performance will be significantly improved by installing this switch.

If you are considering this device to repair your X-1000R, please perform appropriate troubleshooting to determine that your original reversing switches have failed and require replacement prior to purchasing this device. I guarantee that this device will function as a superior, drop-in replacement for the SW307,SW308 & SW309,but I cannot guarantee that this will fix your X-1000R unless failure of the original switches is the cause of your X-1000Rdeck's failure.
