ORIGINAL 1967 KERRY DUNDAS (1931-2010) 'SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE UNDER CONSTRUCTION' SIGNED GELATIN SILVER PHOTOGRAPH

This is just a great original piece.  For those who follow my store, you know I have been buying and selling a lot of photography lately.  I will be listing some of what I recently acquired this week.  A great chance to add some incredible photographs to any collection.  This comes out of a great collection of Australian photography I recently acquired that included some Gary Heerys as well as a Roger Scott.  This is one of those that I will probably regret selling but am happy to own it until someone does purchase it. For those not familiar with the photographer I have included his biography below.  This is really a wonderful early example of just when the photographer returned to Sydney.  This is a wonderful photo of stage 2 of the construction of the opera house where the outer shells were being built.  Photograph measures 10 1/4 x 12 inches and is in outstanding condition.  Signed, dated and titled with all the details of the photograph on the verso.  What I love about that is that it gives all the exact details of the camera and film and that explains why this is such a rich and detailed photograph.  I also love the juxtaposition of the couple in the foreground along the right side taking a portrait themselves.  Photograph has been archival matted and framed in a black frame that is ready to hang.  Just a great presentation.  Frame measures 21 1/4 x 17 1/4 inches.  Do your research on this photograph and photographer.  Truly a rare and important image.  Dont miss your chance on this one and if you collect Australian photographs and photographers make sure you check my store for the others I am offering.  FREE SHIPPING ANYWHERE IN THE UNITED STATES!

For those not familiar with the photographer his biography from the National Portrait Gallery of Australia reads: "Kerry Dundas, son of artist Douglas Dundas, gained an interest in photography as a student at Sydney Grammar school. After leaving school he worked for various studios, including, in the 1950s, Max Dupain's. In the 1960s Dundas worked in the UK as a photojournalist, drawn to subjects of social upheaval such as the Notting Hill Gate riots. He returned to Sydney in 1967, and published a book of photographs of New Guinea subjects in 1969. In 1972 he was appointed photographer at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Over the course of his career he photographed many artists."
