Review

"What sets The Pirate's Bed apart from other tales of its ilk is the main character - the bed itself .... James also has an impressive ability to convey the emotional journey of the secret-laden bed, especially through its bedpost eyes. This unique viewpoint, both in narrative and art, makes The Pirate's Bed charming and memorable." - Quill & Quire

Review Quote

PRAISE FOR Nicola Winstanley's Cinnamon Baby : "A charming offering infused with warmth, romantic whimsy, and love." -- Booklist "... turns the power of a mother's love into about as delicious a story as you could want when the subject is unhappy babies." -- The New York Times PRAISE FOR Matt James: "Matt James calibrates his paintings to convey the relationship between memory and art, between what a child sees and how she recalls the experience of seeing... The layering of paint, the dark outlines of animals and objects, the piling on and scratching away: all these techniques find parallels in the workings of memory." -- The New York Times
