  • About Andy Anaheim: In the early 1950's he was debuted as Mr. Anaheim, and quickly later became Andy Anaheim or Anaheim Andy. The lovable character is a Big A with an Ant like features but still a humanized Anthropomorphic character. It was designed for the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce's Builders Group (Ernie Moeller) developed in conjunction by city advertising agent Perryman, Spellman, and Stoops of Santa Ana and Walt Disney Productions, a gift of Walt Disney himself to the community. He officially became Anaheim's cartoon mascot in 1953.
Andy Anaheim was also used on the city's utility bills to customer, which for many is large because it includes electricity. Well over time, people weren't too happy seeing the character as a bringer of debt. In 1986 the City of Anaheim chose a new City Logo, but Andy Anaheim would still be used on youth and education and fun things. It also adorned the city's printed newsletter in the 1960's. Today he adorns Andy's Updates, a monthly electronic newsletter of the City of Anaheim.
