Limited Commemorative Mortar & Pestle 1980s in Honor of Louis J. Dufilho, Jr.

The information in this description was given by the staff and historian at the museum in New Orleans

Dufilho was a French immigrant who became the 1st American licensed pharmacist in 1816 in New Orleans where he started his pharmacy/apothecary. in 1823. His pharmacy building became the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum in 1950 with many of his artifacts.
The mortar and pestle were given to the board and members of the Pharmacy Museum in New Orleans in the early1980s. .
