ABOUT US
Limited liability company “Ozara” was established by the National Association of Business Women of Tajikistan in 2014 within the Tajik Women Economic Empowerment project (TWEET). The main goal of Ozara is to provide women with an income-generating activity while working from home. The women-artisans who work in “Ozara” are usually tied to their homes as they need to take care of their families while their husbands are earning money in different countries. The company focuses on vulnerable segments of the population, creating a chain of added value and receiving income from the sale of handicraft products, both in domestic and foreign markets.
For more than seven years, Ozara has been working towards this goal and has combined into a single network of more than 100 women artisans who have successfully passed professional courses organized by it.
The items sold by the company are all homemade, and the materials from which Suzani is made are 100% natural products. Suzani – a Persian word for “needlework” – is a type of embroidery that dates back as far as the 7th century. The design patterns on all products have traditional Tajik styles that have been used for centuries.
Ozara focuses on producing home décor products such as pillowcases, wall hangings, table runners, cosmetic bags, etc., using traditional hand embroidery techniques. The company also organizes week-long training courses for hand-crafters to teach new techniques to ensure that products remain of the highest quality. Women do not just put many hours of hard work into their Suzani; they also realize their dreams and hopes for the future of their families.
