British Pattern 1796 Lion Headed Light Cavalry Officers Sword with Brass Scabbard. The ricasso appears unmarked. The grip and backstrap are tight, the guard is a little loose. The grip leather is about 80% complete. The one strand of straight wire and double strands of twisted wire are all complete. The damascus gold etched etched blade is straight, lightly sharpened, some nicks on the lower half towards the tip, and it has small age spots scattered throughout the last foot by the tip. The brass scabbard is solid with some dents/dings, and the drag is steel. Washer is intact. Length of the blade is 33 1/2" (1 3/16" wide and 5/16" thick), the sword is 38 7/16" and in the scabbard it is 40 3/16".
