Up for Buy-It-Now is a new old stock steering gear tube and worm assembly, Mopar part number 871427. This item was obtained from an old service garage and is not a newly remanufactured part. According to my Mopar Manual, this is used on the following models and years:
1941-1948 DeSoto...Six
1941-1948 Chrysler ...Six
There is an added note in the Mopar Parts Manual as follows...S8C (1941 DeSoto Custom( after 5738439), S8C (1941 DeSoto Deluxe (after 6111622), C28S (1941 Chrysler Royal 6) from 7673509-7684288, C28W (1941 Chrysler Windsor 6) from 7914956 to 7921503.
The assembly has a total length of 51 1/2". It is in brand new, never used condition and shows no sign of ever being mounted or installed. There is some surface rust on the piece from many years of shelf storage. May or may not need a light polishing up before installation. On the threaded end, it would not hurt to clean the threads with a die before installation. Cast on the worm is the number 87. The original Mopar parts tag is still attached to the piece.
