Francis Bacon Vellum 1652 De Augmentis Scientiarum The Advancement in Science

684 Pages 5x3 8.5 oz

“The De Augmentis Scientiarum is an Latinized expansion of Bacon's earlier work, The Advancement of Learning, first published in 1605.”

Leather covers remain attached to spine. Spine is still attached to binding but starting to split at frontis page. Gliding on spine legible. Handwritten notes on front cover page suggest repair work at some point in its past. There are fingerprints in the leather that are part of the patina now. Binding is strong and ribbon bookmark is still attached. Cover is scuffed and corners are bumped.

Appears complete. Paper is supple and strong from edge to binding. Edge gilding is in good shape. There are graphite pencil notes throughout from a previous owner. Only found 1 creased corner.
