This antique book, entitled "Pioneer Life in Texas" by M. Krueger, is a piece of Texas history that is sure to please any collector.

Krueger was a German pioneer born in 1851 in Greifswald, Germany and died in Wiesbaden, Germany in 1927. This autobiography covers his life from his ranch at Twin Sisters in Blanco County during the last half of the 19th Century and describes his experience with cattle ranching, hunting, Indian skirmishes, and a history of the German Settlements in the Hill Country. Very good copy of a book Herd 1289, says is "rare." Eberstadt Texas 162: "An uncommon privately printed account of a German emigrant who arrived at Indianola in 1868, visited San Saba, became a traveling photographer, and founded a machine factory in San Antonio." Front cover has slight bend at top right corner and slight discoloration at middle right (SEE PICS). Also, a couple of pages are torn at top right apparently where pages were separated into individual pages. Two pages at end are still attached at top right. Spine is tight and it appears the book was never read/used.

The book is inscribed to famous Texas cattleman George W. Saunders, who is recognized as being the driving force in publishing The Trail Drivers of Texas (1925), a book that has been called the principal source book on cattlemen and cattle drives.
