This offer is for an antique Vanity Fair “SPY” print of “Dover”, the Earl of Suffolk & Berkshire dated December 31, 1887.

Although such prints are often called SPY prints due to the many prints created by Leslie Ward, who signed his work as SPY, they were not all created by Leslie Ward. This print was created by caricaturist Libero Prosperi who signed his cartoons as Lib. He contributed 55 caricatures to Vanity Fair between 1885 and 1903, with works concentrating mainly on the racing set.

The overall size is approximately 10 3/8” x 15” and the image size is approximately 7 1/2” x 13 3/4” (this includes the copy outside of the main photo including the date and the ”Dover” name.) There is no text on the back of the print. The date is printed in the top right hand corner and the lithographer's name is printed in the lower left hand corner - Vincent Brooks, Day & Son.

The print is in good condition although the corners are somewhat torn and the paper has yellowed somewhat. However, the image is in very good condition and any flaws will be covered with framing.
