Antique 1882 Dealer Tobacco Cigars Smoke Vapor Shop Decor Civil War History

Welcome

&

Thank You for Shopping In the USA!

An ornate original antique document dated 1882 for the Business of Dealer in Manufactured TOBACCO issued by the US Internal Revenue..."Severe Penalties are imposed for neglect or refusal to place and keep this stamp conspicuously in your establishment or place of business"!  Please see photos!

This document has beautiful graphics on a great shade of yellow of paper.  Engraved on the top is a young woman, barefoot, leaning on a box of cigars, sitting upon a barrel of tobacco, with a bouquet of pipes, some scotch, a firken filled with cigars, tobacco leaves scattered about, with an American bald eagle facing her.

The government used this stamp as a tax for selling and manufacturing tobacco products to raise money to pay for the Civil War.

In fine print on the side is:  "Engraved and Printed at the Bureau Engraving & Printing", "$5 Dollars Per Year" near the bottom, and "Stamp For Special Tax", near the top.

The front measures 8" by 7", the coupons are folded behind, so total length is 14".  There are six hole punches on the front (to void), some smudges and one spot on the top right corner, otherwise, condition is excellent...a great document!

This is a FANTASTIC piece of history and would be great to display in a wine cellar, cigar or pipe collection, bar or office!  I am happy to answer any questions, please feel free to email and thank you for your interest! :)
