For sale is an Aimpoint 5000, the most common Red Dot Sight in 1993 Mogadishu, the historic event depicted in the popular movie "Black Hawk Down (2001)".

The Aimpoint 5000 was adopted for service in 1991, whereas the Aimpoint CompM2 depicted in the movie was not adopted until 2000.

This is the 10 MoA model with an easy to see and crisp astigmatism friendly red dot. It is mounted with two original 30mm scope rings and will fit on any weaver/picatinny rail. The front reflective lens is protected by a plastic disk, and the rear lens is recessed into the scope body by roughly an inch and a half. As the reflective lens reflects red light, the sight picture ends up having a bluish hue to it. It is normally powered by the CR1/3N and DL1/3N batteries (it comes with one). However, in a pinch, you can use two common 357/303, or LR44 "button cell" batteries instead.

Aimpoint 5000's have a tendency to burn out, and this one has been upgraded under Aimpoint warranty to a more durable brightness dial that won't burn out.
