  • BSA = Boy Scouts of America
  • Snoopy joined the Beagle Scouts May 13, 1974 as a “tenderpaw” and quickly rose to the rank of a fully vested Beagle Scout leader. He became a "Beagle Scout" on June 9, 1974.
  • His first appearance, which was with Lucy, he wore a field cap. Later he would wear a Campaign Hat (aka Ranger Hat).
  • Charlie Brown Peanuts by Charles Monroe "Sparky" Schulz (November 26, 1922 – February 12, 2000).
  • The comic strip ran from October 2, 1950 for Dailies and January 6, 1952 for Sundays. It ended on January 3, 2000 for Dailies and February 13, 2000 Sundays.
  • Tenderpaw is a spoof on the real boy scout rank of Tenderfoot. At the time in Boy Scouting this was the introductory and first rank. Then a joining rank was added that took the role of introductory and is called Scout with a simple fleur-de-lis. Tenderfoot has the BSA Universal Fleur-de-lis with two stars, spread eagle, and shield.
