The moment this photo was taken Lothar was commander of the 2.Panzerarmee. Here he was visiting his troops on the Adria-Küste (Albania).

Lothar earned the Ritterkreuz on the 6th of March 1942 as commander of the 52.Infanterie-Division and the Ritterkreuz mit Eichenlaub on the 15h of August 1943 as the commander of the XXXV.Armeekorps. On the 18th of January 1945 he earned the Ritterkreuz mit Eichenlaub und Schwerten as the commander of the 2.Gebirgs-Armee.
