Mebel Alan Fletcher Clam Box White & Yellow Discontinued UNUSED Made in Italy

Double ashtray, from the 1970s, in the shape of two interlocking clam-like halves which join together to form an enclosed box. The Clam box was designed by Alan Fletcher for Mebel, Italy in 1969. It is made from melamine a rigid plastic of middle cost (thus not used for products to be produced in vast numbers) and a material which is not only heat resistant but also self-extinguishing. Since it is durable, it is also suitable for storing important small items.
Part of the Museum of Modern Art in New York permanent collection. 
There is a stamp of ”Mebel-ITALY-des A.Fletcher” on the inside side.

Unused. Generally in good condition. There are may some minor scratches and dirt including those from when it was shipment. Consider that it has been stored in a private home. Please check the photos for your own impression.
