This is a rare October 4th, 1951 "Playgoer" playbill from the three-night, Pre-Broadway engagement of the ARTHUR CARTER melodrama "THE NUMBER" at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut. (The Original Broadway production would open October 30th, 1951 at the Biltmore Theatre in New York City and run for 87 performances.) ..... The play starred DANE CLARK and ELEANOR LYNN (replaced out-of-town by MARTHA SCOTT) and featured MURVYN VYE, JENNIE GOLDSTEIN, PEGGY NELSON, LOUISE LARABEE, LUIS VAN ROOTEN, ANATOLE WINOGRADOFF, LYDIA REED, DIANA HERBERT, BOBBY VAIL and JAY BARNEY ..... CONDITION: With the exception of a vertical fold, this rare playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian.
