Offering an antique, early original Skookum Doll by Mary Dwyer McAboy,

This doll was made in the early 1920s. The face which was originally carved apples had migrated to composite at this time (due to moisture rotting the apples) but the bodies remained stuffed with twigs and grass. The body of this female Skookum is stuffed, and the legs and feet are made of wood. The feet are covered with a paper-like suede applied to wood. Her papoose is adorable. Peeking out from behind her with such a naughty expression.

Her Hudson Bay-style blanket is a faded orange, green, and blue.

She is 14.5" in height with mohair hair and is as you see her. Over 100 years old, faded and worn, but all there with her baby and wise expression.
