"The Living Talmud: The Wisdom of the Fathers," translated, edited, and introduced by Dr. Judah Goldin, showcases twelve sepia drawings executed by Ben-Zion and printed by the Photogravure and Color Company of New York. Each drawing is accompanied by a tissue overlay bearing the relevant Talmudic text. The book, designed by Joseph Blumenthal, employs 16 pt. Hadassah type in red for the Hebrew text of the Mishna, 14 pt. Poliphilus capitals with 14 pt. Bembo italics for the English translation, and 12 pt. Bembo for the Commentaries. The paper for the text is a white laid rag stock made specifically for this edition by the Strathmore Paper Company of West Springfield, Massachusetts. The Arches paper for the illustrations is from the Arjomari Paper Company in Arches, France, and the laid rag stock for the tissue overlays is from Robert Fletcher & Son, Ltd., in Stone-clough, England. The binding features natural-grain goatskin vellum on the spine, stamped in genuine gold, with fine quality black buckram sides. The top edge is hand gilded with pure gold leaf.
