This is an exquisite 1942 Anglo Indian Royal Air Force interest wooden cigarette box. 

The body profusely decorated with Kashmiri carvings of leaves and scrolls. The lid has a large quatrefoil, filled with flower heads. In the centre, a sunken area delicately hollowed out, creating a high relief resembling a temple domed roof.

The hand-carved patterns are crisp, dense and highly detailed.

The internal has a carved RAF emblem and motto PER ARDUA AD ASTRA. Below, SRINAGAR KASHMIR 1942.

A removable partition and green velvet lining to the base.
