[Description]
The AMPEX MODEL 620, released by AMPEX in the 1950s to 1960s.
These speakers are exceptionally rare suitcase-style speakers.
They are often used in conjunction with Ampex open-reel decks and
truly showcase their charm with analog audio sources.
Not only in terms of functionality but also in terms of its retro design,
it's an ideal addition to your interior. The stylish appearance unquestionably
enhances the appeal of the sound output.
These speakers were renowned for their audio quality,
given their historical use as playback monitors for AMPEX tape machines.
Among audio enthusiasts, they are often modified for use as guitar amplifiers
or connected to microphones for outdoor portable systems, demonstrating their versatility.
The units feature 8-inch Alnico full-range speakers.
These speakers, manufactured by AMPEX upon JBL's request,
have garnered attention for their ability to maintain
flat frequency response characteristics from 65Hz to 10,000Hz,
resulting in a natural sound.
The front panel is equipped with an auto-routing function for speaker output,
allowing you to easily disconnect the internal speakers from the amplifier and
maintain a flat output by simply inserting a cable,
all achieved in an instant through a series of operations.
We include a PHONO preamp as a service with this product.
USED
Great Condition and Excellent Exterior looks.
Exterior is beautifully finished and all the components are
in excellent/perfect working condition as well.
As you can see in the pictures, this item is in superb condition.
Despite its vintage nature, both the exterior and interior are in excellent condition.
Originally, we listed them as singles, so there may be some variation
in sound pressure between the left and right units due to their monophonic playback nature,
but they can be adjusted through preamps and equalizers.
We recommend adjusting them separately through different monophonic preamps.
