Daimler of Coventry took its name from the licensing of its first engine and the name of its inventor,  Gottlieb Daimler of Germany.   Daimler UK held the Royal Warrant from 1896, its inception, into the 50s when Rolls Royce landed the warrant owing to some errant behavior by Daimler's Chairman's wife.  Based in Coventry, Daimler also played a role in wartime production with its engines and production of armored scout cars.

This model from the Royal Cars collection is #39 of the 300 offered in a limited edition. This appears to be a very hard model to find as only one reference was found and that is no longer on the web.  The quality of workmanship from paint to details is superior to anything else I've seen in the diecast market.  Have a look at the photos--it's easy to imagine they were taken of the original car whose owner was unknown in 1998 but the car was reportedly still in the UK (see photo number 9).  Meticulously reproduced and marked "Handcrafted in England." Photo number 10 shows the signature of the craftsman, the date of production, and the car number within the series.

A delight to see, and heavily built of quality materials.  Not your ordinary diecast model.
