Vintage Postmodern Bent Plywood Shell Cushioned Bouclé Dining Chair Attributed To Massimo Simonetti For Steelmobil

A chair that's so quirky it will surely catch one's eye, this piece was made in the 1980s in Italy. It exhibits classic traits of minimalist design with expressions of playfulness and functionality, with a postmodern twist. The seating is made out of a taupe bouclé material filled with a thin layer of foam over a wooden base. The tubular steel frame comes in a black powder-coated finish, with flowing amoeba-like rear legs, while the backrest comes in a lush moulded plywood finish. A must-have in one's living area, home office or at the dining table.

Origin: design attributed to Massimo Simonetti. Produced by Steelmobil in Italy during the 1980s.

Condition: in very good vintage shape. The wooden backrest is in excellent shape for its age, with some small dents along the edges and one noticeable scratch on one of the sides (image 4, left panel) but no cracks. The seating is in excellent condition, with no stains, smells, rips or tears, having received a new bouclé cover. The tubular frame is in good shape, with some light scuffing and a few small marks and scratches visible throughout but no signs of rust. The chair's frame as well as seating are both structurally intact and stable.
