LPs ARE ONLY EVALUATED VISUALLY UNDER THE STRONG LIGHT OF A LAMP.
LPs are graded visually and conservatively under bright lights.
LPs ARE EVALUATED UNDER THE "RECORD COLLECTOR" EVALUATION SYSTEM as follows:
SS = Still Sealed. Disc still sealed.
M = Mint. Perfect in every respect. Flawless vinyl, covers as well.
NM = Near Mint. Very small flaws, some signs of use on the cover, but handled with great care. Vinyl plays perfect, almost like new condition.
EX = Excellent. Shows some more marked signs of use that do not affect the quality, both in the cover and in the vinyl. There may be some small defects.
VG = Very Good. Still satisfactory looking, but wear and tear such as light scuffs or scratches may be present, although it plays well with a few clicks or pops every now and then. Possible light non-persistent rustling and crunching. The cover may have signs of wear in the rib, slight neckline at the edges, slight traces of ring wear, small stickers or small writings.
G = Good. Perceptible cracks and pops when listening, marked wear of the cover. Disc heavily used with marked noise or badly damaged but does not skip. Cover worn and/or stains and/or writing and/or tears but no missing parts. Disc to buy just to have it.
The signs (+) and (-) next to the symbol, in order, increase and decrease its meaning.
LPs are graded using the RECORD COLLECTOR's grading system as follows:
MINT: THE RECORD ITSELF IS IN BRAND NEW CONDITION WITH NO SURFACE MARKS OR DETERIORATION IN SOUND QUALITY.
THE COVER AND ANY EXTRA ITEMS ARE IN PERFECT CONDITION.
EXCELLENT: THE RECORD SHOWS SOME SIGNS OF HAVING BEEN PLAYED, BUT THERE IS VERY LITTLE LESSENING IN SOUND QUALITY.
THE COVER AND PACKAGING MIGHT HAVE SLIGHT WEAR AND / OR CREASING.
VERY GOOD: THE RECORD HAS OBVIOUSLY BEEN PLAYED MANY TIMES, BUT DISPLAYS NO MAJOR DETERIORATION IN SOUND QUALITY, DESPITE NOTICABLE SURFACE MARKS AND THE OCCASIONAL LIGHT SCRATCH.
NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON THE COVER OR EXTRA ITEMS, WITHOUT ANY MAJOR DEFECTS, IS ACCEPTABLE.
GOOD: THE RECORD HAS BEEN PLAYED SO MUCH THAT THE SOUND QUALITY HAS NOTICABLE DETERIORATED, PERHAPS WITH SOME DISTORTION AND MILD SCRATCHES.
THE COVER AND CONTENTS SUFFER FROM FOLDING, SCUFFING OF EDGES, SPINE SPLITS, DISCOLORATION, ETC.
