Antique wooden cube puzzle - 6 sides/scenes - Made in France

-The most collectible image may be the side w/ three oarsmen, one of whom is enjoying a post-work out cigarette(!), while another appears to be flicking a cigarette butt at a rival sculler, though in fact is shown skipping a stone towards his 1-man rowing shell ("scull"). Based on an actual reported unsportsmanlike incident from the time. Uniforms are of actual French university boat clubs. Rowing/Crew collectibles other than mugs/trophies from this era are scarce
- Another side depicts a rare "Dark Harlequin" (Zwarte Piet/ Black Pete) in what appears to be a traditional French or Dutch Christmas play/ pageant that may also depict a woman (standing) drinking Absinthe!
-Other sides have equestrian images including: a horse race; the hunt; steeplechase; and a pair of stallions.
-Box exterior features a husband and wife holding their newborn.
-Artist: There's a signature "RRR" on the lower corner of two of the images.
-Age: Late 19th c. based on pattern of dress depicted (est. c.1890).
-Size: 6"x4"x1.5" -similar to a smaller shadow box display for a narrow wall space between windows or in a hall within your home!
