This is a rare May 7th, 1917 program (playbill) from the Post-Broadway engagement of the JULES ECKERT GOODMAN play "TREASURE ISLAND" at the Hollis Street Theatre in Boston, Massachusetts. (The Original Broadway production opened December 1st, 1915 at New York's Punch and Judy Theatre and ran for 205 performances before going on the road.) ..... The play starred HERBERT ASHTON as "Long John Silver", Mrs. HOPKINS and RUTH VIVIAN alternating as "Jim Hawkins", LARK TAYLOR as "Dr. Livesey", HALLETT THOMPSON as "Bill Bones" and CHARLES HOPKINS as "Ben Gunn" and featured LUCIA CARNE, EDMUND GURNEY, PERCY WARAM, JACK O'BRIEN, STUART ROBSON, Jr., R. W. READING, LLOYD NEAL, FRED BENNETT, JAMES MACE, J. HERMAN, FRANK OLIVER, HALLET BOSWORTH, GEORGE MANNING, JACK HARRIS, JOHN ROGERS, FRANK J. WOODS, RUSSELL C. ARCHER, CHAUNCEY W. KEIM, GEORGE THOMPSON and JEROME BRUNER ..... DETAILS: The 32 page program measures 5 3/8" X 7 7/8" inches and includes beautiful cover graphics, production credits, cast list, synopsis of scenes, promotional text and wonderful vintage advertising, but no cast photos or bios ..... CONDITION: With the exception of a small tear in the top edge of the cover, a bumped corner at the top right and moderate edge wear, this rare program is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
