This striking coin is from the Poseidon Collection and features the image of Syracuse Hieron II with a trident and dolphins. Minted in Greece around 250 BC during the ancient era, it is made of bronze and has been certified by NGC. The coin has a grade of VF 35 and is uncleaned. It belongs to the Greek (450 BC-100 AD) historical period and is a valuable addition to any collection.


Described by Cicero as "the greatest Greek city and the most beautiful of them all", it equaled Athens in size during the fifth century BC. It later became part of the Roman Republic and the Byzantine Empire. Under Emperor Constans II, it served as the capital of the Byzantine Empire (663–669).
