Issac Plumlee was born in Virginia, ca. 1775, the son of William and Phebe Denton Plumley. His family migrated from Dunmore (now Shenandoah) County, Virginia, to Rickingham County, North Carolina, ca. 1780. They were living in Burke County, North Carolina, by 1790; in Greenville County, South Carolina, by 1791; and migrated to Knox County, Tennessee, ca. 1794. Issac Plumlee married Margaret Bradshaw (ca. 1780-ca. 1848), daughter of Joel and Mary Montgomery Bradshaw, ca. 1799. They had eleven children, 1800-ca. 1825, probably all born in White County, Tennessee. He died ca. 1835, probably in White County, Tennessee. She died between 1845-1850 in Carroll County, Arkansas. Descendants lived in Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and elsewhere.
