CHIPPENDALE STYLE MAHOGANY DINING ROOM TABLE ON DOUBLE PEDESTAL BASES WITH BALL & CLAW CARVED LEGS & TWO LEAVES BY HENREDON - 10+ FEET LONG

With our absolute highest compliments Bay Colony Antiques takes the utmost pleasure in presenting this extraordinary dining room table produced by the Henredon furniture company. This table is one of the most commanding and spectacular examples produced in America during the twentieth century with an entire surface comprised of premium crotched mahogany which is sequence matched across the length of the table. The exotic mahogany wood grain creates an illustrious effect which is further enhanced when exposed to sunlight allowing the natural characteristics of the tabletop to shine through. This table will accommodate nearly any large gathering with a standard length of 76" without any additional leaves extending the length. With a single leaf inserted in the table the length expands to just over 8' feet and with the placement of the second table leaf the table becomes just over 10' feet long.

The table is elevated by double pedestal supports each of which are finely executed with exceptional detail. Each base consists of a center pedestal support designed with a boldly turned column and compact ball form along with three snake legs ending with ball & claw carved feet. The high arching knees of each leg are fashioned with sheathes of wheat carved motifs which further add to the elegance of this table. The design of this table is adapted from the furniture of the early American period created two centuries ago which placed premium woods such as mahogany and highly stylized elements including ball & claw carvings at the forefront of nearly every creation. This table was manufactured by the Henredon furniture company which remains one of the leading producers of fine American furniture anywhere in the country. Henredon produced very few tables that were as grand in design or constructed of anything close to the premium figured mahogany selected for this table throughout their entire manufacturing history. This table originally would have been retailed through one of Henredon's distributors for in excess of $15,000 which in part is why there are so few of these dining tables available anywhere. Now, a generation or two after, fine furniture production remains a costly endeavor and constructing tables of such exceptional quality had become cost prohibitive with respect to retailing and logistical realities so the only chance a consumer has to own a table of this refinement is to take advantage of someone who previously purchased through a Henredon retailer and no longer has need of the table. We fully expect the next owner of this table will fully recognize the considerable value and cost savings opportunity afforded by our pricing which is far below the original retail price and greatly enhance their home with one of the finest American dining tables that can be found anywhere. This dining table measures 76" long x 45" wide x 30" tall. The two additional tables leaves each measure 24" wide so that the table can extend to be a grand total of 124" long.
