This is a small handheld ancient oil lamp. It's about 3.5in long and 2in wide.

The oil was poured into the center and the wick was placed in the narrow hole. Ancient oil lamps like these were used for everyday light, as well as in ceremonies. They were made by pressing clay into 2 stone molds, then stuck together before firing.
